Your stories of having premature babies
Premature birth is a common and serious health problem that affects families up and down the UK. Over the past year, families have been kind enough to share their stories with us to help raise awareness of premature birth.

I have had two premature boys, Sonny who was born 29+3 and Vincent 25+3, sadly little Vincent passed away at 9 weeks.
Words can't describe how devastated we were when Vincent passed as we thought that we were out of the woods.
It was never explained to me why Sonny may have come early or any reason for it. So with falling pregnant again, we knew that there might be a risk of another prem baby.
Now thinking back on it I hadn't felt well a week before my waters broke with sonny, but with Vincent my waters braking was a complete shock, especially a month earlier than the first.
Vincent was born very poorly with an infection, which I found out was strep B. Over the next few weeks he fought off various infections, moved out of intensive care and into an open cot.
But life took a cruel turn and Vincent developed NEC, which became fatal and we lost our precious fighter within 16 hours.
I am frightened to have more, but want to so much as we all have so much love to give in our family.
I wish that there was more research into problems like mine during pregnancy and then maybe Little Vincent may have been with us now.
I'm just so lucky that I have my ray of sunshine in Sonny who keeps us going.
